British Columbia Colleges, Universities, and Schools

People go to British Columbia to study - fall in love with the province - and end up living there. It's that kind of place. From the beautiful islands and waters of the Juan de Fuca straits, to the bustling sophistication of the city of Vancouver, B.C. - as Canadians call the province - truly has something for everyone.

Vancouver, tucked between the Pacific Ocean and the mountains, is a never-ending source of delight. You can take a meditative walk through the acres and acres of gardens in Stanley Park, hike in the mountain ranges just at the edge of the city, stroll on a beach, wander through museums and galleries, dine at a world-class restaurant, and then meet your lover on the steps of the Queen Elizabeth Theatre for an evening of ballet or opera. After the performance, sit and enjoy a drink at one of the many, European style sidewalk cafes.

Another feature of British Columbia is its rich wildlife. You can see green herons and trumpeter swans or any one of the hundreds of thousands of birds that migrate up the Pacific corridor. You can go out along the coast to watch the twice-yearly migration of Pacific gray whales. There's nothing like seeing these huge mammals glide and dance through the water as if they were performing just for you. There are also yearly salmon runs that are the largest in the world. As if that weren't enough, you can see mountain goats, bighorn sheep, and caribou browsing at the side of country roads, or black bears and grizzlies fishing in the rivers.
