Another feature of British Columbia is its rich wildlife. You can see green herons
and trumpeter swans or any one of the hundreds of thousands of birds that migrate
up the Pacific corridor. You can go out along the coast to watch the twice-yearly
migration of Pacific gray whales. There's nothing like seeing these huge mammals
glide and dance through the water as if they were performing just for you. There
are also yearly salmon runs that are the largest in the world. As if that weren't
enough, you can see mountain goats, bighorn sheep, and caribou browsing at the side
of country roads, or black bears and grizzlies fishing in the rivers.
