Wisconsin Colleges, Universities, and
Schools
Beer, cheese and the great outdoors.
Of course, the state of Wisconsin has a lot more to offer, but students who go to
school in the state just can't stop talking about the first three. After all, Wisconsin
produces over 350 varieties of cheese and some of the country's best brews. If you're
interested in how these foods are made, major breweries and dairies throughout the
state offer regular tours.
When it comes to outdoors activities, Wisconsin has something to offer the whole
year 'round. Of course, you'd never have time for classes if you tried to swim, fish,
water-ski and boat in the more than 15,000 lakes found in the state. There are also
rivers, woods and mountains just waiting for you to enjoy them. Hikers and campers
can explore the state during the spring, summer, and fall, and then the downhill
and cross-country ski crowd gets a turn. Of course, you don't have to wait for the
summer to come back for the swimming season to begin. Wisconsinites have grown to
love the cold, and you can impress them by joining one of the regularly scheduled
"polar bear swims" that take place around the state. These events are quite
festive and offer a great way to meet the locals.
If you prefer the just-as-great indoors, Wisconsin offers a wide range of cultural
experiences. There are art museums, a circus museum, a museum dedicated to former
Wisconsin resident, Harry Houdini, as well as casinos, concerts, indoor waterparks
and professional-level theatre and dance performances.
